Big update: Good and bad news

I know this update is long overdue! A lot has happened since March (I can’t believe it has been that long!) and some of it has been wonderful and magical, but we also have some very sad news.

But let’s start with some great news! Shortly after the last blog post, my sister announced her second pregnancy! In the meantime, she has given birth to a very beautiful and healthy baby girl, Lois. We visited them last week to welcome Lois into the world and it was so nice to see our family again!

Some more wonderful news; Tijs and I are now officially married! We celebrated our Hungarian wedding on the 19th of July with our Hungarian neighbours and friends and Tijs’ parents. It was a very special day and couldn’t be any more perfect. We are truly blessed to celebrate and unify our love connection twice. I would marry Tijs every day if I could!

But then, shortly after our wedding – at the end of August – a tragedy happened. Kato fell sick and his tummy blew up like a balloon. He also didn’t eat much anymore and we took him to the vet. He passed away less than a week later due to liver failure… Our world collapsed underneath our feet and we just can’t believe our best friend is no longer with us. We don’t understand, reality just won’t sink in. We are wounded, hurt, traumatised. This is a wound that will take a long time to heal.

Some brighter news again; Tijs just released his first solo piano album! It’s truly a masterpiece. It’s called ‘A Dream in Paradise’, the same title as this blog, it’s basically about our Hungarian adventure and our new life here. You can listen to samples of every song here.

So this is what happened in the past few months in a nutshell. I will update this blog more often from now on. I usually update it every Thursday. So stay tuned!
